About: I have extensive experience in general medical settings and private practice. My key interest area is assisting patients to adjust to the psychological, behavioral, and interpersonal challenges associated with chronic medical conditions. Medical patients can often feel as though they are treated as a collection of symptoms, and I believe that it is imperative to understand that the symptoms are happening to a person; with feelings, thoughts, fears, hopes, roles, relationships, and responsibilities. Without taking this full context into account we cannot fully grasp the impact of medical conditions on our patients.
Training and experience: I completed my professional Clinical Psychology training in South Africa. Since qualifying I have undergone additional training in Motivational Interviewing, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and Psychodynamic Therapy.
